Water at your feet and green all around: a retreat on the Norwegian island of Selbjørn, located in the picturesque archipelago south of Bergen and accessible only by boat. The piece of land on which the builders commissioned architect Todd Saunders to construct their resort has been in the family for many years. The aim, and at the same time the challenge, in designing this island retreat was to reconcile the need for protection from extreme weather with the desire to live close to nature indoors, all year round.
The design of Villa Austevoll follows the principle of disturbing the surroundings as little as possible by raising the building above the landscape and, as it were, floating it. The main body of the house consists of a cross-like shape made of white wood and glass. Our oak floorboards in the most popular width of 300 mm give the rooms a solid charm of cosiness. pur natur Kollin decking boards create an elegant, weather-resistant outdoor area that offers a view over the impressive nature of Norway.
